Dr. Hering's Signed BookHave you ever heard of Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia? Anyone interested in and knowledgeable about the history of homeopathy in American knows that this was the Harvard of the profession. And they had a library that was unrivaled when it came to homeopathy. Among other things, they were the heirs of personal collection of one of the most beloved and brilliant American homeopaths, Constantine Hering, MD, the author of some of the most valuable resources in the field. All of Hering's books, personal papers, case notebooks, etc. were in their library. Andre Saine, ND, one of my mentors in homeopathy, told me that a number of years ago he came across a rare early homeopathic book that had been signed by Hering. It was part of Hering's personal collection, the collection housed at the Hahnemann Medical College library. The man who sold it told Dr. Saine that it had been found at the city dump where thousands of old homeopathic books, journals and other materials from the above mentioned collection had met their fate after being preserved for over 100 years. The medical college library told Dr. Saine that they had no idea how such a thing might have happened. Coincidentally, most of their rare homeopathic collection disappeared around the same time. Curious, isn't it? I Start a Publishing Company |
